Moving Music Together: Finding Space, Shape and Soul through BodySinging
Registrants will experience how “BodySinging” may be applied to specific choral works from the All-State Soprano/Alto Choir repertoire ; as well as generating a comprehensive approach to rehearsal and performance. Selected All-State singers will demonstrate the process of “finding the feel” of the music within each singer to create a deep and lasting connection of body, mind, heart and voice when rehearsing and performing choral music together. The session will also draw together many contributing philosophies of using movement as a means of enhancing musical expression in choral performance; particularly the work and ideas of Émile Jaques-Dalcroze, Rudolf Laban, and F. M. Alexander; as well as more recent applications of these methods by contemporary artists and educators.
